How NFC Works

NFC (Near-Field Communication) is the same wireless technology behind contactless payments like Apple Pay and Google Pay — it's already built into every modern iPhone and Android. When a phone comes within about 1–2 cm of an NFC chip, it reads it instantly and opens whatever link you've programmed. No Bluetooth. No Wi-Fi. No scanning required.

Yes — all iPhones from the iPhone 7 onward and virtually every Android phone made after 2015 support NFC natively. On iPhone, a notification banner pops at the top of the screen when held near the tag. On Android, the browser opens automatically. No settings to change, no steps to follow.

Never. That's one of the biggest advantages NFC has over QR codes and custom apps. The person tapping just holds their phone near the tag — their browser opens your menu, profile, or link hub in under a second. Nothing to install, nothing to search for.

Our Products

NFC Card — wallet-sized, business card format. Great for handing out at events or keeping at your front counter. NFC Tag — a small circular sticker you can put on any smooth surface: tables, windows, packaging, or a menu stand. NFC Plate — a larger flat adhesive with printed tap instructions on it. Designed to guide customers who have never tapped before. Ideal for restaurants and busy counters where not everyone knows what NFC is.

Restaurant tables are by far the most popular placement — customers tap to browse the menu without flagging down a server. Other common spots: front doors, counter tops, product packaging, trade show tables, and windows facing the street. Anywhere a customer naturally looks or pauses is a good tap point.

Yes — unlimited times, instantly. Your physical tag just points to a link stored in your TapMate dashboard. Update the destination whenever you want: swap your menu for a holiday special, change your booking page, test different landing pages. The physical tag never needs to be touched again.

Setup & Features

Whatever you set — and you can change it any time. The most popular choices are: - A full digital menu with categories, items, and prices - A custom link hub showing your website, socials, booking page, and more - A direct redirect to any URL (Google Maps listing, Instagram, online ordering, a PDF) You are never locked into one format.

When someone taps your NFC tag, they briefly see your branded loading screen — with your logo, colors, and style — right before landing on your menu or profile. It is a small moment that leaves a big impression. It feels like a real app, not just a redirect. This feature is available on paid plans.

Your dashboard shows total tap count, full tap history with timestamps, trends over time, geographic data down to the city level, and per-tag breakdowns. You can filter by date range and individual tag to see what is actually working — which table is getting the most use, which day drives the most taps, and more.

Anything with a URL: your digital menu, website, Instagram, TikTok, Google Maps listing, online ordering page, reservation link, contact card, PDF, or YouTube channel. You can mix link types, assign icons and brand colors, and choose your layout — list, grid, bento, and more.

Tap your physical NFC tag with your phone — you will be taken to a TapMate page. If you are not logged in yet, you can register in under 30 seconds. Once logged in, click Claim and the tag is yours. From that point on you control where it goes. Full step-by-step at the link below.

Plans & Pricing

Yes. The free plan lets you claim and manage tags with basic redirect functionality — great for getting started or for simple use cases like linking to a website or social profile. Paid plans unlock the branded loading screen, full analytics, unlimited link hubs, and support for more tags.

If you run a restaurant, food truck, or any business where you want customers to feel a branded experience when they tap — custom loading screen, digital menu, analytics showing which items get attention — the paid plan is worth it. If you just need a tap-to-my-website setup, the free plan handles that fine.

Yes, no lock-in and no cancellation fees. Cancel from your account settings at any time and you keep full access until the end of your current billing period. After that, your tags stay active on the free tier — they keep working, just with free plan features.
